Cap-d'Ail

Cap d'Ail, an Eden on the French Riviera... at the gates of Monte-Carlo, 20 minutes from Nice and Italy.

Cap d'Ail has a storied past. For almost a century, personalities have chosen to live there for its charm and living environment. To name a few: the Tsarevich, the Prince of Wales, the Lumière brothers, Sacha Guitry, Winston Churchill, Guillaume Apollinaire, André Malraux, Lord Beaverbrook, Greta Garbo and many other celebrities.

The creation of the Mala district is the origin of the Cap d'Ail Resort. Its development began around 1879 thanks to the initiative of a daring financier, Baron de Pauville, who, convinced of the tourist potential of the place, recently crossed by the national road and connected to the rail network, decided in 1880 to launch a huge real estate. The planned ensemble consists of a housing estate and a hotel for a clientele of wealthy winter visitors who prefer to stay in peace and enjoy the distractions of the great neighboring resorts of Nice and Monaco.
